MARTINBOROUGH NOTES
(From Our Own Correspondent.)
Martinborough is experiencing a run of very dry weather and continued heavy winds. The young crops are suffering very much for want of rain. The Transvaal war is exercising the minds ,of everyone here (as well .as elsewhere), and consequently election questions, are quite in the cold this .year. However, wo expect soon to have the candidates around, when no doubt election matters will be stirred up. The Martinborough electors are in hopes of having a visit from" some of the Ministors, as other, places , have had. lam sure such a large district as this deserves it. ■ The Lower V'alley Jockey Club is going in for more improvements. I hear it is getting plans , for a' substantial and up-to-date kmcheon booth. The club is not one of the largest, but it certainly docs,a full share in catering for the comfort of the public.
