STAR BOATING CLUB.
The annual report, of. tho Star Beating Club to bo presented at the annual general meeting, to be held at the club house on Thursday, 31st August, states ' that an inspection of tho balancesheet will show that the amount received for subscriptions and entrance fees for the past season waa'.£449 12s 6d, as against £449 9s- for-tho previous-season. The gross receipts were £614 9s Id, and the expenditure £591 03 6d,- leaving a balance to credit of £23 8s 7d. The balance of Assets over liabilities' ’amount to £1929, 3s 7d," whic|i,'-is ap ;i increase: of £5 19s 6d'on the" corresponding figures for -the i preceding, -year*. and - this notwithstanding the,, fact ithat £lO5 .has. been -written off i tho - club . house, _. S. Cranford, who was elected secretary at the last annual meeting, resigned that position on December 14th, owing to" his" removal from Wellington, and was succeeded by Mr N. Galbraith, Mr R; -Pownall being elected -to fill the vacancy-in the committee. Mr .A. E. Dean, who had efficiently performed the duties of, an auditor for the past seven years, having left to reside in Auckland, had resigned his auditorship. Ille club might Consider itself fortunate in having secured Mr J. Stephens, a very old member, as his successor. A line of rails had been places across the skids by. the Harbour Board contractor' for the Te - Aro reclamation face-wall, but as ha has promised to inconvenience members as little as possible, the committee does not anticipate that the work will materially interfere wiTi the operations of tho club during next season. While the contractor s plant is in position the committee hat. arranged for an examination oi the skids, with a view to their being nut in a thorough state of repair. Tne president had left on a. visit to the Old Country, but it was hoped that he would soon be amongst members again. In conclusion, the committee, while congratulating the club on its satisfactory' position, earnestly impressed upon members tho necessity for assisting the incoming committee to maintain tho club s good name, and trusted that greater energy, w.ould ,bo displayed ,by all its rdwitig 'members' in training for ■ the qyen.ts of thp-..comipg:n.eason.
