ANXIOUS BURGOMASTERS
, APPEAL TO THE KING. BRUSSELS, Sunday. The agitation against the Proportional Representation Bill is causing concern thronghotit the ttouut.ry. The Burgomasters of Brussels, Ghent, Antwerp and Liege have informed Hug Leopold that they will he unable to hold themselves responsible for keeping order in their towns unless the Bill is withdrawn. His Majesty has replied that ids action is limited hy the Constitution. (Received July 4, 0.50 a.in.l BRUSSELS, Monday. There have been further disorderly outbreaks in various parrs of the coun try, some of them being of a serious nature.
At Liege, the manufacturing town ii the centre of the oust Belgian coahnin ing district, 250 members of the Civic Guard (which is organised as far as pos sible in the communes) fraternised will the Socialists. At Alost, in East Flanders, 19 miles from Brussels, the police, with sword, drawn, charged the mob, and woundei. ten of the rioters'.
