CANNIBAL OUTRAGE IN CONGO.
A BRITISH OFFICER’S BRAVERY.
LONDON, Monday. News has been received from West Africa of the surprising of a Belgian expedition by an ambushed force of the Avuvennis tribe, in the Congo district.
Captain Maurice Bell, a British officer, who formerly belonged to the Middlesex Volunteers, was a member of the expedition, arid himself killed ten of the enemy before he was overcome. Bell’s body, as well as those of several of his companions, was eaten by the natives.
