DESTRUCTIVE FIRE AT AUCKLAND.
PRESS ASSOCIATION. / AUCKLAND, Tuesday. A fire broke out at 9 o’clock to-niciifc in the extensive premises of Mr H. M. Smeeton, a grocei*. The building was formerly Firth’s old flour mill. Ihe lire arose in the second story in the office of a tea packing department. The fire did extensive damage in the second ami third stories, which: were filled with general merchandise. \ The damage on tlio ground floor was by water only.' The loss will run into thousands of pounds. The stock was insuredin the New Zealand, Sun, Norwich Union, Manchester and London, Liverpool and Globe offices for over £6OOO. The building, which , was practically undamaged, was injured for £6OOO in the New Zealand Insurance and was owned by the AuckIrnd Stock Exchange Company, Lhui ed
