WE LLI MG TON BOWING CLU B. . The Kempthorne Fours were rowed on Saturday afternoon. /The water-wassail that could be desired, and the finishes in several of the heats were very exciting. The winners turned up in J.' Calnari’s crew, and they will, therefore, hold the challenge marble clock, which was presented to the club by Mr i Orlando Kempthorne, for one year. The win was a very popular one, tho No. 3 in the crew,;. P, James, being one of last year’s coxswains. After tlie ; ■final heat he was carried, shoulder high to the clubhouse. The winning crew consisted of J. Calnan (stroke), F. J. James (No. 3), Wi Read (No. 2) and A. A. Davis (bow). ~ - Following are the results ' First round.—Crawford’s crew defeated McLaren’s by one length and a half, Gaudin’s crewdufeated Hill’s by two lengths, Macdonald’s crew defeated Spargo’s by one length, J. Spencer’s., crew defeated Mino-; gue’s by one length, Shilling’s crew defeated T -Spencer’s by half a length, Galnan’s crewdefeated Moilpina’s by half a; length. *. Second round.—Gaudin’s crew defeated * Crawford’s by ; one * length, Macdonald’s crew defeated J., Spencer’s by one length’ and a half, Calnan’s crow defeated Shilling’s by half a length.
