An ex-stationmaster has lately been going into the question of the carriage of white pine for shipment on the railways, ■and, according to the, Dan'ncvirke paper, “unhesitatingly asserts that if the white pine for export was carried ,on the railways free of charge the Government would still gain substantially _ from the employment afforded by the limber-cut-ting. and from the large amount: of mourn put into circulation and expended in the purchase of articles on which Customs duties are .paid. 1 *
