In tho Second Hurdle Race Handicap at • the Otahuhu Jockey Club's : meeting a serious accident occurred. Manila crossed her legs after jumping tho hurdlo oppositetho grand stand, and the three horses following fell in a'' heap—namely,; Lulu (McCalluin), New Boy (Donovan) and- Kanaka (Sharp). McCallum, who ' works for’. Mr, Anderson,' a livery- st able keeper at Eltham, .received a serious concussion of the brain. He was taken to tho hospital.
