LADIES’ SIVIMMING CARNIVAL. A swimming carnival for ladies was held at the Thorndoh baths yesterday afternoon. There was a large attendance, and tho, various .events .were .watched, with groat interest. Following are the results ' . 50yds Handicap (boys).—R. Ronayne, scr, 1; P. Hanna, llsec, 2; H. Conlin, 9seo, 3. Won by a foot, in good style. 50yds Wellington Ladies’ Championship.—Miss B. Wix; 1; Miss N- Curtis, 2; Miss P. Ronayne, 3. A good .race. Won by a yard and a half. The winner swam with great vigour, and in a finished stylo. ■ ■ ' 20yds New Chums’ Race (ladies). —Miss Gilchrist, 2sec, 1; Mrs Fife; 7secj 2. Won by three- yards, - Those- were- the only starters. 20yds Little Girls’ Race.—May Longden, 3sec, 1; T. Pointon, scr, 2; D. Henry; scr, 3. Won by two yards. J 50yds’ - Ladies’ Handicap;—Miss pC. Smith, ssec, 1; Miss M. - Bell, 4sec, 2. The wiliner had the race in hand from the start, and finished, strongly. The other competitors .did not finish. Boys’ Plunge.—A. Thompson, 1; C. Rogers, 2. 30yds Race for Girls under fourteen years.—E. Holmes, 1; T. Lingard and D. Longdon, dead heat for second place. Won by two yards, with ease, and in good style. . Little Boys’ Race, 20yds.—T. Ronayne,2sec, 1; B. Tustin, 4sec, 2; C. Holmes, 2sec,:3. Won by a yard. Ladies’ Handicap, 40yds.—First heat— Miss A. Dodson, 4sec, 1; Miss Penton, 4sec, 2; Miss C. Smith, 4sec, 3. V7on by half a yard, after a most exciting finish. Second heat—Miss B. Wix, scr, 1; Miss A. Johnston, ssec, 2. Miss Johnston led until within five yards of the rone, when she was Overhauled 1 by Miss Wix, who swam with great pace and style, and won a most exciting race by half a yard. Final—-Miss E. Wix, 1; Miss B. Penton, 2; Miss A. Dodson, 3. Won in fine style, an exciting struggle taking place for second honours. . Boys’ Handicap, 80yds.—B. Picot, 3sec, 1; P. -Hannah, scr, 2. Won by a yard. . Ladies’ Handicap (novices), 30yds.— Miss Doris Johnston, 3sec, 1; Miss E. Holmes, ssec, 2; Miss A. Hoggard, 3sec, 3. AgoodTace. Won by half a yard. Neatest Header (ladies). —Miss Penton, 1; Miss Wix, 2 ; Miss A. Johnston, 3. Neatest Dive (feet first). —Miss P. Ronayne, 1; Miss C. Smith, 2; Miss A. Dodson, 3*. ...
