'■'Genera! de Trentinian, GovernorGeneral of the French Soudan, has been a year in Paris attached to the Ministry !, for the Colonies while his health was being re-established. He is the youngest general in the army—being only 47. General do Trentinian obtained his first experience in Africa in 1874. He began young , and was decorated after the battle of Marchenoir, when he was but 19. In 1894 he was chief commander of the army in Senegal, and about a year later was made Governor of the French Soudan.
