Neva from San Francisco states that Air Harry Hoyte, who graduated for tho stageunder the late Air William. Hoskings, died there on 6ih December. Ho was for nine years a member of Cio Dunedin City Council, and was at one timo in partnership with Mr W. Luke at Dunedin. He came to the colony in 1862. : Miss H. L. Tansloy loaves Dannevirke on tho 30th instant for South Africa, via Sydney, having (says :the Bush "’Advocate ”) accepted a twelve months’ engagement with tho well-known Payne Family! who, after a season in South Africa, will probably, leave for a tour through England. Mr Edward Elworthy, a well-known South Canterbnry'-mnholder, died suddenly on Sunday- last from heart disease. The deceased gentleman for many vears took a lively interest in public affairs, and was a member of several different local bodies in Timaru. He was about 60 years of ago.
