Reports from West Africa state that the French have evacuated Kishi, a town on the western side of the Niger, situated on the 9th parallel of north latitude, some 60 miles from the river, to the south-west of Bajibo. This is one of the towns within the British sphere of influence to which France has lately laid claim. The British flag has now been hoisted at Kishi. The Kepublique Francaise says that Mr Chamberlain’s cold-blooded violence in his speech at Birmingham is certain to cause the British Government much embarraasment.
