HOLIDAY EXCURSION TICKETS at rates 2d per mile Tirst-olass, Id per mile Seoond-olass (minimum faro 4s and 2s respectively ; mileage counted one way only), will be issued FROM ANT STATION TO ANY STATION on W ELLINGTON - NAPIER ■ NEW PLYMOUTH SECTION (excepting where ordinary fare is less than minimum excursion fare! from Saturday, 21st, to Tuesday, 24th May, available for return np to and including Tuesday, 31st May, 1898. Note. —In no case will the through excursion fare via Government line exceed the through excursion fare via Wellington and Manawatu Company’s line, provided that—(a) The fares from Wellington, Silverstream and intermediate stations — to Ashurst, Makino Road, Foxton and intermediate stations shall not be less than the fares to Woodville. (b) The fares from Makino Road, Foxton, Ashurst and intermediate stations —to Silverstream, Wellington and intermediate stations shall not be less than the fares from Woodville to any of the latter stations. The period for which these tiokets are available for return journey may be extended for a further period of 14 days upon payment of difference in value between the ordinary single fare and half the excursion fare. Application mnst bo made at station to which excursion ticket was issued, and before expiry of same, and the unused portion of excursion ticket be handed in. The journey may be broken at any station at which the train is timed to stop after a distance of 25 miles has been travelled; Note.— On QUEEN’S BIRTHDAY EXCURSION TICKETS, whether outward or return, from To Aro, Upper Hntt and intermediate stations—to Featharston, Masterton and intermediate stations, including Greytown, will not he available by North MAIL TRAIN (leaving Te Aro at 7 a.m, and Wellington at 7.15 a.m.). Likewise Excursion Tickets, whether ontwaid or return, from Masterton, Featharston and intermediate stations, including Greytown, will not he available by South MAIL TRAIN (leaving Masterton at 3.57 p.m.). An Excursion Train, by which suoh tickets will be available, will run between Te Aro and Masterton, leaving Te Aro at 7.53 a.m. (Wellington at 8,5 a m.), and return leaving Masterton at 5-l6 p.m. (Featharston at 6.19 p.m ). CHEAP RETURN TICKETS (available on day of isane only) as obtainable on Saturdays and Sundays between TeAro, Upper Hntt and intermediate stations, will be issued, in either direction, on 24th MAY, 1898. TRAIN ARRANGEMENTS (Te Aro - Woodville line). The following ordinary trains will not ui:n :—7.40 a.m. Masterton to Cross Creek, 6.30 p.m. Upper Hnto to Te Aro, 8.20 p.m. Te Are to Lower Hntt, 8.40 p.m. Te Aro to Upper Hntt and 9.15 p.m. Lower Hutt to Te Aro. The train usually leaving Lower Hutt for Te Aro at 8.12 a.m. will leave at 8.0 a.m., and will Tan correspondingly earlier than usual throughout. The train usually leaving Upper Hntt for Te Aro at 7.55 a.m. will leave at 7.45 a.m.; from Lower Hutt to To Aro it will run as usual. All other ordinary trams will run as usual, SPECIAL TRAINS (stopping, if required, at intermediate stations) wijl run as under ; Between To Ayo and Masterton.—Te Aro depart 7 S 3 a.m., Wellington 8.5, Lower Hntt 8.35, Upper Hntt 9.15, Featherston 11.15, Carterton 12.3 p.m , Masterton arrive 12.30 p.m. Masterton depart (on return journey) 5.10 p.m., Carterton 5.38, Featherton 6.19, Upper Hutt 8 52, Lower Hntt 9.35, Wellington arrive.lo.4, Te Aro arrive 10 15 p.m. Note.—Special trains to and from Greytown will connect with this train on both J North and South journeys, leaving Greytown at 11.18 a.m. and 5:48 p.m., and arriving at Greytown (on return journey) at 11.41 a.m. and 6,13 p.m. Between Te Aro and Upper Hntt. The ordinary 6.5 p m. train Te Aro to Lower Hntt will run to Upper Hntt, arriving there at 7.45 p.m. A special train will leave Upper Hntt for To Aro at 6,5 p.m. Between Te Aro and Lower Hutt s— Te Aro depart 9.5 p.m. for Lower Hutt. Lower Hntt depart 10.15 p.m. for Te Aro, Te Aro depart 11.5 p.m. for Lower Hntt. On Queen’s Birthday goods traffics will be suspended and all goods sheds closed.
