Franklyn, vice-president, in the'.chair. The following programmes wore ' "submitted ■ for approval, and being in -order were passed; Utaki-Maori Hack Racing Club, Autumn Meeting, May 24th and 25th (stakes £855). and the Shannon Hack Racing Club, April 13th. Two applications for assistance from the distressed jockeys’ fund were considered and dealt with as follows—J. Heroook, who was injured when riding Roseleafat the Hutt on November 21th last was voted £5, and .James! Bussell, who met with an accident at Taratahi on November 9th, was assisted to the extent of £3. The appeal lodged against the Taratahi-Carterton Racing Club by W. Corlett for depriving his horse Sir A gnos of the stakes in the Prince of Wales Handicap at the Spring Meeting on the 9th November last was nofentertained. The matter appealed against being only one of fact and not of interpretation of the rules, the decision of the local olub was final. The chairman of the Racing Conference, in a circular letter, drew attention to the congested state of the unpajd forfeit list, which in his opinion was caused by the inclusion of many amounts in arrear through irregular recaption of entries and. acceptances by clubs. As the Wellington Metropolitan Club _ was not guilty of the irregularities complained of, ho action was taken, the question being considered one that should be dealt with at tbe next conference. Should His Excellency and Lady Kanfurjy return to the capital in time they are to be invited to be present at the Club’s Summer Meeting qn the 22nd and 2|th inst„ when they will bo entertained by tbe stewards at lunch. The question of licensing bookmakers to ply their calling on the Hutt Park Racecourse at -the Cup Meeting was considered, and the matter was postponed till next Thursday, when a special meeting of the stewards will he held to decide what shall be done, AUCKLAND BLOOD STOCK. Mr Ike Foulsham, of Caulfield (Melbourne), was a passenger to Sydney by the Westralia, taking with him the Hotchkiss— Frailty colt, the Hotohkisa-Lady Cureton colt, and the St. Legor—Bianca filly, whioh he purchased at the recent .Wellington Park sale. The yearlings purchased by Messrs Stead, Lowry, De Peliohet and Mossman at the sales in Auckland were shipped to their destinations by the. Flora on Saturday. At the last meeting of the Adelaide Racing Club, Gnullo, by St. Switbin—Black Ros'e, appropriated the Welter Handicap • from Bloodstone, The Idler and a number of others,'paying £37 ss. The Hurdles wmri to Garter, by Albury-Blne Stocking, who paifi Jjfa sa, and Gijullo won tfie ne;t rape, the Anniversary Handicap, Hear Hear and Vakeel being in the places. Tffe winner carried 7sf 91b, including 71h penalty, ’ and won very easily by four lengths. The winner, as in the first raoe, was not at all fancied, and paid £2l 18s. -The Handicap Steepleohaso also resulted in a surprise, the winner, Cromwell, paying £B. The victor, who is by Sir Oliver —Parisina beat Arctic by a length and a half. The Two-year-old Stakes went to Mr J. Crozior’a Sparta, by Thunderbolt (the New Zealander) out of Leda, Cicero being second and Louisa 'third. Once again the public got loft, the winner paying £ls odd, Mr Crozier also won the Burnside Handicap with Bloodstone, a son of Carlyon and Atholine, Rosepark and Recoup running into places. ” The Horowhenua Back Racing Club's first meeting proved a financial success, a profit of £SO being made. Mr J.
