THE EIGHT-HOURS QUESTION.

The Sunderland ■ Trades Council has carried resolutions censuring Mr Thomas Burt, M.P. for Morpeth, and formerly Parliamentary Secretary to the Board of Trade, for asserting that the present conditions of work were fair. Mr John Burns has issued a violent manifesto against Sir Christopher Furness, the well-known shipbuilder, who recently contested the by-election in Cork City in the Liberal interest. The attack is founded upon Sir Christopher Furness’ membership of the Employers’ Federation, and upon his action in ordering a look-out of his employees, who recently struck.
