Press Association, Invebcaboill, January 8. ■William James Compton, charged with threatening to shoot his wife, has been committed for trial. Mr Hall-Jones, Minister for Public' Works, has traversed a large portion of Southland during the last three days, and received numerous deputations concerning local wants. This morning he left for Miller's Flat, and during the week he visits Roxburgh, Clyde, Naseby and Heriot. Dunedin, January 8. The Postal Department has declined to authorise the issue of the proposed Jubilee stamps for raising funds for the Dunedin Public Library. ' •
