HUDSON'S SURPRISE PARTY.

Another change of programme was made by Hudson’s Surprise Party on Saturday night, when there was a large audience at the Company’s “ social gathering ’ in the Exchange Hall; Among the Vocalists honomrs fell to Miss Violet Elliott, who was twice recalled for a very fine interpretation of “ Out on the Deep.” Miss Elliott’s lower notes, which are of exceptionally good timbre, were well employed in the swinging refrain to the song'. Ihe two songs given by Miss Lillian htanbridge were "Look Back" and Danza’s bright and beautiful “Come to Me.”* She was recalled for each number, and in response to the second encore delighted the audience with “ Killarney.” Though not in good voice, Mr \Vallace King gave pleasure with bis singing of “Irene, Good Night,” the chorus to which was a pretty bit of work prettily sung. To “ Abergeldie,” a paraphrase ou Scotch airs, Miss May Habgood had to add another pianoforte piece. Mr T. Hudson took a strong lead in the fun-making department. He gave the jubilee ditty, ” I want yer, ma houey,” and a skit on the dreaming songs of the day; headed a ” kitchen band,” and raised shrieks of aughter as a leisurely nigger in the sketch ‘ Fast and Slow,” and as P. to, the property boy, in the faros “ the Crush-;d Tragedian.” Miss L Linton and Mr W. Keed assisted to good purpose in the sketches, Mr \V. Watkins contributed two comic songs with comic patter, and made them still more amusing by bis facial impersonations. MioS Ida Kosslyn, Miss Amy Thornton, M. Altro, the juggler, and Mr J. Kearns appeared in their respective specialities The humorous musical sketch, ” Scenes in an Academy,” by Messrs Watkins and tihirwin, continues in favour. Another new programme will be given tomorrow night, and Wednesday night will be the last of the season.
