It was recently announced that a British force under Major Jenkinson had occupied •without opposition Bona, in the Gold Coast region. West Africa. ■, The latest intelligence states that the British occupation is now firmly established, Samory, the powerful Mahpmmedan chief, having withdrawn. ~ London, January 4. The Government baa decided to reorganise the Uganda Rifle Corps in British East Africa. Captain T. P. B. Toman, Consul at Uganda and Deputy-Commissioner, who is visiting London, will return to Mombassa with 20 officers for the corps.
