Messrs A. G. Taino and Co.’s report for the week ending 21th December is as follows :—Pat s-aio'c—Fat cattle plentiful, and. as wo predicted • l\nt week, prices have fallen. We quote Prime bullocks. £6 10s to £0; medium, £4 IDs to £5 ; cows, £ i to £3 10j ; beef, 11s per 1001 b. Fat sheep— M itket over-supplied. Prime wethers, 8s to 9s ; indium. 7s to 7s Ud ; ewes, us Cd to 6s Cd ; lambs, prime. 7s to 7s Cd. Store shoep and cat»lo—The v?ry lons spell of dry weather la having the effect of Imoing owners to realise, and prices are inclined to lower since our last quotation. Of sales we h'iv*o none to rooort. Wo quote Three-year-old bitllooks, £li to £i us. for those well forward ; twoyo ir-oU cattle, 40s to 47a ; yearlings, 20s to 27a Cd ; cV.voh, 10s to 16s ; storo wethers, Cs to 7s; ewes, 6s to 5s 0-1; ewes and lambs, 7s to 10s; old ewes with fresh mouths, 3s to 4s ; storo lambs, 3s to 4s Cd. Wool and sheepskins—Tho wool market now shows bettor signs, and wo should not be at all surprised to seo a revival in prices. Sheepskins are still coming forward freely, and prices are keeping well up. Wo quote:—Bast full-woolled crossbreds, 6d to 5.V.1 ; medium, 43 to 4.jd ; inferior, 2d to 8d per lb. Hides—Ccst ox, 15s tohis: cow. 7s to Bs. Horsefa i;r, 10.1 to Is per lb ; short supply. Property—Wo h ivu eovcral sales pending, and will supply particulars after the New Year holidays are over. Messes Lowes and lorns report:—At oar fortnightly sale yesterday (22nd December) we bad a good yarding iu sheep of‘all classes, la mutton tito euf-ies were confined to fat ewes, any prime lots moving off freely, as did all good class forward ewo and strong store wethers. Backward stores wi-rc dull at auction bat changed hands before the clous of the sale.. la beef some good quality cows and heifers offered,but no bullocks, all beef selling. Sioro cattle were hard to quit, a few pens being unsold. Young pigs sold freely at sound rates. Pat owes made 6s Cd; forward ewes, 4s Cd to 6s ;*good store wethers. Cs to 6s 9d; others, 5s to 5s 6d ; 2 tooth owes, 6s 3d to Ss 6d; aged ewes, S 3; fat cows and heifers, 60s to - 70s; yearlings, 25s to 27sCd ; best calves, 15s to 295; small, 6s to 10s; store cows, 103; springers, GOs to 80s; storo pigs, 20s to 225; weaners, 10s to 143. At Carterton on Tuesday we had a good yarding in sheep and young cattle, nad, with two exceptions, wo sold ail, fat ewes m iking 5s 6d; good storo wethers, Cs 6d; small, store ewes, 4s; yearlings, 255; calves, 10s to Mr Matthew Henry reports as follows on the live stock trade:—A moderate entry of both sheep and cattle came forward on Thursday, bnt the attendance was very small, and the volume of business done was not extensive, the majority of buyers holding off till the holidays are over.
