Latest advices from the Far East bring particulars of a terrible typhoon in the China Sea, which wrecked many native craft and did an immense amount of damage. At Haihow, one of the treaty ports, chief port in the island of Hainan, at the entrance of the Gulf of Tonkin, many buildings were completely wrecked, and between 200 and 350 persons killed. London, October 21. News has been received that a cyclone has devastated the island of Leyte, one of the Philippine Group, causing immense loss of life and property.
