Several Spanish detachment* in the interior have been surrounded by the rebels, and some out to pieces. One place ■ was surprised,' and 18 Spanish soldiers killed. At Barcalor a large number of rebels rose and overpowered their guards.' The regiment quelled the outbreak, and shot 40 of the rebels dead. A large number of armed convicts have joined the rebels.
