HARBOUR BOARD.
The Board met yesterday. Present— Messrs F. H. Fraser (chairman), J. Jack, J. H. Heaton, W. Booth, H. Beauchamp, F. Bradey and Captain Kose. Messrs T. Gale and J. Hutcheson and the Mayor were granted leave of absence from the meeting. Vouchers were passed for payment as follows; —For accounts and wages, .£2537 13s 2d; for salaries for October, £ 134 19s 9d j for progress on contract, £lsl Is fid i total, £3123 14s sd. The bank-books showed—Current account, credit balance, £1795 Os 8d; to credit of imprest wages account, £320; on fixed deposit, £24,000. ' The Wharves and Accounts Committee recommended as follows: —That a letter having been received from the Petone Borough Council offering to lease the Petone wharf, the proposal to _ call for tenders for its removal be held in abeyance, and that the letter be referred back to the committee with instructions to bring up a report at the next monthly meeting of the Board; that, owing to tho large increase in the examinations required for H.M. Customs, more accommodation is required, and that the “ I ” shed on the body of the Queen’s Wharf be devoted to that purpose, and the Engineer be directed to have tho necessary alterations made therein; that the Board do not deduct any penalties from Mr James Bussell, for tho non-completion within the contract time of his contract (No. 88) for tho erection of flooring in store “P "; that tenders be called to close in March next for the supply and delivery of 150 tons of out and punched hoop steel and of five tons of studs.— Adopted. In committee the half-yearly report from the Commissioner of Sinking Funds concerning the state of the funds on September 80th last was read and adopted.
