ANOTHER LIBERAL REGULATION. PEOOF OP AGE. WE have in the past disposed of the bugbear of u Proof of Age ** by getting the member, immediately after receiving hia Policy, to furnish whatever evidence he can, e g , in default of copy of the Keari&ter of his birth, an extract from*Family Bible or other record, a Declaration by one of his parents or other relative able to make one as to date of birth, or any document supporting hia own statement. Failing all these, we have accepted the Member’s Statutory Declaration; and so far, we admit, our practice has been ihat of most other Mutual Life Offices ia Australasia. We have now pleasure in announcing that the Board have authorised our going a step further by undertaking the task of searching for evidence of age tor every proponent who cannot himself produce it. Most of our new members are Australian born, and as Begis- | tration of Births has been compulsory since i 1856, we do not anticipate trouble in obtaining their Birth Certificates; still less for those born in the United Kingdom; in fact, we have pursued this plan for some years past whenever the assured so requested, and doubtless our contemporaries have done the same. The difference henceforth will be that we shall charge ourselves with the duty of seeking for evidence of age, instead of throwing the onus of it on the members.
