THE EIGHT-HOUR DAY.

The shipbuilders have compromised with the authorities of the Associated Boilermakers' Society, who threatened to; strike if the employers insisted upon their decision to revert to the nine-hoars day, by revening to the 1892 agreement; by which the men are allowed an hour’s walking time.
The boilermakers are indignant at tho action of the Society, and repudiate tbe decision arrived at.

One thousand London boilermakers struck work, but their union refused to award strike pay, owing to' tho .inen repudiating a settlement after arrangements had been made. .
