WELLINGTON CYCLING CLUB.
The fifth annual rapdrt of the committee of the Wellington Cycling Club, to be presented at the meeting to-night, congratulates members on the strong financial position of the club. Through the kind offer of Mr Hugh Inglls, the committee has been enabled to obtain very central olttlwrooms, which have been furnished with a billiard table, card tables, &o. Judging by the large number of members who have patronised the rooms, they are appreciated. The committee suggests that before next winter the question of purchasing a second billiard table should be considered. The N.Z.C.A. championships for last season were held in Wellington under the management of the Club. The meeting was the most successful, both financially and otherwise, ever hold under the Alliance. E. Reynolds annexed all the championships except the Halfmile, which was won by his club-mate E. A. Dexter. The Only locals rider who rode with any success at the meeting was F. B. Muir, who finished third in the Twentyfive - mile Championship. During last season an exceptionally large number of race meetings wore hold. In addition to the usual meetings the Exhibition Committee provided a large number. W. Castle, Juriss and Biodie competed at the Wanganui Meeting last Easter, and won the Teams’ Race. An analysis of what the racing members of the club have done during the past season is given, and shows the most prominent to have been—F. B. Muir, with 14 firsts, 5 seconds and 2 thirds; Grove, 12 firsts and 8 seconds; Fitzgerald, 7 firsts, 9 seconds and 2 thirds; Johnston 5 firsts and 6 seconds ; W. Castle, 5 firsts, 6 seconds and 1 third; Juriss, 5 firsts and 5 seconds; F. Castle, 4 firsts, 4 seconds and ■ 1 third. Nino others are credited with one win each. The thanks of the club are due to Messrs Hugh Inglia, D. Brand, W. Castle and Messrs Jonkinsoa and Co. for donations to the club room, and to Mr G. Ryland for a silver cup, which has been allotted to the Five-mile Provincial Championship, and is now held by F. W. Jones, of Christchurch. The thanks of the’club are also due to Messrs Tydeman and Walker, the club’s handicappers, whoso work during the season was anything but light. Messrs G. Jeffery and T. Lucy donated a trophy for the ' member making the fastest time between Eketabuna and Wellington. This was first won by J. Beckingsale, whose time was 7hrs 7min. It is now held by J. Brodie who did the distance in Chr SSmin. The membership of the club is rapidly increasing and now stands at 157. During the year 30 committee meetings were held. The season was commenced with a credit balance of £l2 14s 9d, and the receipts from all sources amounted to £l6l 10s 4d. The purchase and fitting of the billiard table and tarnishing the new club room throughout absorbed over .£66, while the maintenance of the room required the sum of £47. Notwithstanding this a credit balance is shown of £l6 12s sd. The balance of assets over liabilities exceeds £144.
