SUPREME COURT CRIMINAL SESSIONS.
By Telegraph.—Press Association, Chbistchukch, August 16. The Supreme Court criminal sessions were opened this morning. "Mr Justice Denniston congratulated the Grand Jury that the calendar was such a light one, there being only one serious case. Still it seemed that great facilities were given for forgery and the passing of valueless cheques. His Honor than referred at some length to the charge of manslaughter against Hullett in connection with the “ cancer cure.” He said the accused admitted having applied chromic acid to a tumour. It made no (difference that the deceased acquiesced in the treatment, or that the alleged tumour must ultimately have killed him. There was medical evidence showing that the treatment was quite improper. The case was a peculiar one, but he did not think tho jury would have much trouble with the evidence. Michael Ford pleaded guilty to a charge of perjury, and as he had already been in gaol throo months, was sentenced to nine months’ imprisonment. J. C. Dudfield, on three charges’ of forgery, was sentenced to 12 months’ imprisonment. A. G. Driscoll, charged with theft, was sentenced to 12 months’ imprisonment. W. Evans, for breaking and entering, was remanded for the report of tho probation officer. Thomas Gill, for uttering counterfeit coin, was sentenced to three months’ imprisonment.
