THE MINISTER OF DEFENCE.

The Minister for Defence, who is at present in Dunedin, emphatically denies that he is specially enquiring into alleged police irregularities with a view to the appointment of a Royal Commission. The real object of his tour is to become personally acquainted with the department and officers under his control. He leaves for the South on Monday.
