Before the Transvaal Raid Enquiry Committee, Mr Charles _ Leonard, who played au important part in the projected rising and afterwards escaped to England, stated in his evidence that Mr Cecil Rhodes, after the raid, almost went on his bended knees and implored him to use his influence with the Dutch party.
