Tho voyage to Melbourne of the ship Lucilo and that of the Agenor were of a somewhat similar character; but* although both vessels left New York within a few hours of each other, and arrived at Melbourne with about tho same interval between them, neither sighted tho other till they were otf Port Phillip Heads. Almost immediately after leaving New York on 18th February the Lucile fell in with a fierce gale from tho westward, with tremendous seas, before which tho vessel ran. Several heavy seas broke on board, under which the vessel “staggered.” The decks were almost continually flooded, and considerable damage was occasioned to tho deck fittings. Sails were rent and blown away. After two days tho weather moderated, somewhat, and under more propitious element* strong N.B. trades were found. On reaching 9Qd.eg east a terrific southerly gale overtook tho ship. Tho seas were mountainous, and occasionally found their way on board. One huge wave-was pooped ; it carried away tho taflrail, smashed in the cabin skylight, flooded docks and cabins and creased the damage already done by tho. previous, golo. Tho Agenor met with a somewhat similar experience, but both vessels, eventually.' reached Melbourne at the end of April. DEPARTURE OP-THE RIMUTAKA. By Telegraph.—Press Association, Lyttelton, May 13.
