Matthew llcnry, of Palmerston North, reports tinder date December 18th: —Cattle came to hand in considerable numbers on Thursday, and were composed of useful lines of steers, the sheep being chiefly fat ewes. The mind of the public seemed that of uncertainty, as to how to operate, notwithstanding the fact that vendors were willing to accept lower prices than any ruling during the past six years nt least. Tito most of the sheep were cleared, but only a small proportion of cattle at subjoined quotations:—Cattle—Yearling steers,£l 8s to £110s; 2-yoar do, £2 Bs ; 2 to Uj-year do, £2 12s to £2 15b : light fat cows, £3 4s. Sheep—Fat wethers, 8s; 4-tooth wethers, 7s 3d; fat ewes, 6s.
