THE NELSON REGATTA.

By Telegraph.—Press Association. Nelson, December 22.

The Nelson regatta, which takes place on Saturday, ia attracting considerable interest' locally, owing to the fact that the Nelson Rowing Club has a stronger crew for the senior events than it has had for some years part. The crow consists of Hamilton (bow), Catlcy (2), Waahbourne (3), E. Low (stroke). Low, who was stroke of the Club’s junior crew at Picton in April last, has improved considerably, and is now showing very fine form. Washbourno was also in the junior crew. Catley is a well-known Nelson oars* man, and Hamilton stroke of la£t year’s senior crew. The* average weight of the crew ia over 12 stone, and they form a combination which will take a lot of beating. The Club’s maiden crew will also row in* the junior fours, hut the crew is not a strong one, and will probably have to suffer defeat from the Wellington crews. It is at present the intention of the Nelson Club to be represented at the Wellington Exhibition Regatta. The entries closed to-day. Nelson and Stars have crews in all events; the Wellington Club entered for the senior outrigged and clinkers and maidens.
