Hallanco mot yesterday morning,the members present being tbe Hon the Premier, Jlon J„ McKenzie, the Hon J. Eigg., M.8.C., and Mr A. D. Willis. Messrs 11. C. Jones (secretary of the Ballance Memorial Conmittee), J. O’Dea and D. Darke were also present. Captain Russell, Sir Robert Stout and Mr Pinkerton telegraphed their inability to attend. The committee met on the Parliamentary grounds, and inspected different suggested sites, ultimately deciding on a portion of the central circular lawn opposite the main entrance from Molesworth street, and about 10 or II yards from the lawn pathway and in a direct lino between the gateway and the main door leading into the buildings. Mr \V. J. Helyer will begin the work of erecting the memorial monument after the Christmas holidays, and the unveiling ceremony will take place at the opening of the neat session of Parliament.
