The Waihl ioft at midnight last night for Blenheim. About 1 o'clock this morning the Charles Edward arrived from Takaka with a load of wool, on discharge of which she was to leave for Nelson. The steamer proceeds from Nelson to Wanganui, and thence to Wellington, arriving here on Thursday. In the evening of that day the Charles Edward leaves on a special excursion trip to Nelson, returning to Wellington on Sunday. No fewer than 18 steamers passed the Heads, outward bound, between 12 noon and midnight yeflterday. The brigantine Aratapu, from Kalpora (four days out), sailed into port early yesterday morning, and at 0.30 was berthed alongside the Jorvois quay jetty. Her cargo consists of over 00,003 ft of kauri and totara, timber, including spars for the Union Company and poles for tho Telegraph Department. At 5.50 yesterday afternoon tho Kahu left for the East Coast.

Tho Tnrawora, which arrived at the Bluff from Hobart last night, leaves Lyttelton at 10 p.m. on Thursday for Wellington, arrives hero on Christ* mas Day, and Bails next day lor Sydney. Tho Morayshire arrived at Oamaru from Sydney last evening. The Heskcth left at 11.19 last night for Greymouth. As tho Wakatn has made a special trip between Cheviot and Lyttelton, she is not expected here before to-morrow. Tho steamer left Lyttelton last night. Tho Janet Nicoll left at 8.15 last night for Westport. The Walnui, which loft for Nelson at 8 last evening, leaves tho Port on the return trip to Wellington viaPioton at 10 this morning. The Herald left at 13.25 p.m. yesterday for New Plymouth- and Greymouth. On arrival at Port Chalmers next trip the steamer will be docked for an overhaul. The Southern Cross arrived from the Hast Coast yesterday morning, and returned at 6.25 last ingTic Te Anau, from Auckland via East Coast, oamo in at -1.30 o.m. yesterday, and left at 5.33 p.m. for South. _ The barque Onyx was hauled over to tho Queen s Wharf to take in ballast yesterday morning. The Breeze commenced to discharge her cargo of coalinto the Rlmutaka yesterday. As tho Patent Slip" will not be available for some days, the steamer will bo docked at Lyttelton, and proceeds to that port via Greymouth, leaving here tomorrow.

Yesterday tho Mahlnapna came oft the slip, and at 5.55 p.m. loft for New Plymouth and Onohunga. Tho Neptune loft for Blenheim at 12.15 p.m. yesterday. At 0.U5 yesterday afternoon tho Wavcrlcy left for Nelson and West Coast. , When tho ship Zealandia hauls of! into the stream the ship Eatorpo will be berthed at the Wool Jotty prior to commencing loading for London. Cable advice has been received announcing the departure of the lonic from Capetown, for Hobart and Wellington, on the morning of tho 19th inst.
