The smallness of the voting in the Urewora country is remarkable ; thus at Ahikerern anti To Whaiti, two ot the largest settlements of Tuhoo laud, only five and nine votes respectively were cast, whilst at Tokaanu, where 101 votes wore recorded at last election, only four were polled. This may bo accounted for as due either to lack of interest (there being no local man standing upon the present occasion) or from religious scruples.
