EDUCATION BOARD.

A meeting of tlio Education Board was held in the Board offices yesterday. Present —Messrs J. R. Blair (chairman). P. Bradey, J. Young, tV, TV. McCardie, J. llobertson, W. C. Buchanan and Inspector Leo. Mr MoCardlo moved, and Mr J. Young seconded amotion that the school districts of Pnagatoa, Nikau, Makomako, Eakanui, Mangahao, Makairo, Coonoor and Tiraumea be constituted school districts. This was agreed to. It was decided to leave the matter of fixing , the new Eintoul street district boundaries in the hands of the chairman. The resignations of Alisa Mary Franklyn (Mauricerilio) and Mr Harry S. "Whitehorn (Clyde quay) were accepted. Tho question of deciding what was to be done in the case of ths school residence occupied by Miss Hamilton at Kaitoke, which was recently burnt down, was deferred.

It was resolved to accept the lowest tender (iUS 12s 6d) for the fencing; of the Kereru School. The carpenter was asked to report upon the requirements for painting at the Newman School. It was decided to purchase a typewriter for use in the Board buildings. An application by Miss Helyer, first assistant teacher at the Mount Cook Girls* School, for six months* leave of absence on full pay, which was held over from the last meeting of the Board, was considered, and as she informed the Board that she could not accept leave unless her present appointment was kept open until her return, it was decided to leave the matter in the hands of the chairman.
