At a meeting of dairymen last evening, resolutions were carried that tho proposals made by the City Council in regard to the inspection of dairies and dairy cattle are calculated to unnecessarily harass and annoy owners, and that tho proper course would he to place the inspection in the hands of the respective local boards of health. It was resolved that in the event of the City Council proceeding with its proposal, the Governor-in-Council be petitioned not to accede thereto. Mr John Graham, of Sonthbridge, an old Canterbury settler, has been found drowned in a creek running near his residence. He is supposed to have fallen off a plank while crossing the creek and been stunned and drowned. Auckland, July 18. Owing to the water not being yet pumped out of the lower workings in the Brunner mine, the adjourned Magisterial enquiry into the disaster has been again adjourned till the 30th inst. The Otago Agricultural and Pastoral Association has passed a resolution asking the Minister for Railways to make a uniform rate for the carrirge of frozen meat on railways, and to take into consideration the advisability of materially reducing the present rates.
