Tho third monthly Druids* 41 social was held last night in Thomas' Hall, and was by far the most successful yet hold. There was a very largo attendance, including tho Premier and Mrs and Miss Soddon, tho Hon J. Carroll and D;Q.P. Bro. the Hon W. Jennings. Before dancing was commenced a tableau described as tho “ Daughters of Fire ” was shown. Tho characters wore pourtrayod by Misses Whale (3), Plowman (2), Keatch and Gardener, who represented Justice, Benevolence, Zoalandia, Australia, Ireland arid Scotland. Tho District President (Bro. I. Whale) was seated on the throne, and there wore a number of Druids clad in coloured robes on tho platform. Coloured fires made the scone a very effective one, and it was loudly applauded. Credit for the arrangement of tho tabload is duo to Bro. G. Z. Quarrio. Dancing to tho strains of Fischer’s string band was then commenced and kept up till an early hour this morning. Excellent refreshments were supplied by tho committee, who worked hard to make tho “social” a success. Tho committee consisted of Bros. Flaherty, Scbiro, Taylor, Buck* Humphrys, Backhouse, Quarrio and Shepherd. Bro. I. Whale was an untiring secretary.
