Dear sirs,— I have to thank yon for allowing me to try your Dayton Machine. I rode it as far as Featherston, riding from the foot of the Mungaroa hill to top of the Rimutaka without dismounting. This ia about as hard a trial as I could give it. The machine runs splendidly, and is, in my opinion, as strong as the ordinary 321 b Roadster. I am, dear sirs, Yours faithfully (Signed) Herbert Smith. The Dayton bicycle ridden by Mr Smith weighed 231 b, and was geared to 68in. Rochester, N.Y., Jan. 27th, 1896. Davis Sewing Machine Co., Dayton, 0. Gentlemen, — I have been riding your Dayton wheel (factory No. 482) since July Cth, 1895, and am very much pleased with it; in fact, lam so pleased with, this wheel that I would not accept any other with a cash bonus besides, as I can say that your wheel saved me from being injured or crippled. As I was riding out in the country I ran off a steep incline, and I dropped nearly 4£ft down the embankment with three other wheels after me, and my wheel was not hurt more than a knock in the frame which shows still, but the other three were wrecked. W© have a Bicycle Club here named Riverside Wheelmen, and among the members are oWen Daytons. Later on we will want figures on a tandem, so please send me your latest catalogue. Yours respectfully. (Signed) Harmon A. Ndsbaum, 196, Chatham street, Rochester, N.Y. Our New York Agents write : “ The Dayton is a first-class wheel in every respect. It is one of the beat in this country.” The Makers write :t—- ---“ Our present trade is keeping us very busy, and the demand for the Dayton is exceeding the capacity of our plant, but we will endeavour to give prompt attention to your orders, as w© are anxious to have the Dayton introduced in the colonial market.” The special price for Dayton ladies* and gentlemen’s Bicycles is .£25. This price only applies to orders booked before July 31st. As there is likely to be a difficulty in obtaining Daytons, orders should bo placed at once. There is only one quality of Dayton Bicycles made—th© best —no second - grado Daytons are manufactured. Wellington, Juno 4tb, 1896. Messrs Wilkins & Field. • I have much pleasure in giving my testimony as to the sterling quality and good workmanship of the machines made by the QDADE4.NT Compant, of Birmingham. 1 have ridden their machines for six years past (Nos. 17 and 21), and during that time they gave mo great satisfaction as to easy running and lasting qualities.
