THE NEW STEAMER MATAURA.

By Telegraph.—Press Association. — Copyright, Received February IS, T p.m. London, February 17. The New Zealand Shipping Company’s new steamer Mataura has been successfully launched.

The Mataura is a sister ship to the Eakaia, now on her way from the Cape to New Zealand. Both steamers, which belong to the New Zealand Shipping Company’s line, are of 0688 tons register and 3500 horse-power, and have been built specially for cargo-carrying purposes, but with accommodation for a small number of passengers. The Mataura will leave at once for New Zealand.
