A MAIL BAG ROBBED.

By Telegraph.—Press Association. WestpOet, Augusts Yesterday afternoon it leaked out that on Monday last a mailbag sent from Dennistdn to Westport had been tampered with, and £l6O abstracted. Of this sura £lls belonged ito the Post Office, the i balance "consisting of registered letters. The bag was plqced at 3.43 p.m. fon Monday on ,a truck, at the top of the coal company’s incline; Denhiston. It reached the Conn’s. Creek Station,-where •the railway guard took charge, and the bag was brought to" Westport by train, arriving at 6 p.m. • It was then taken to the Post Office, where the robbery was discovered. Enquiries are being prosecuted, and so far it is ; understood there is no clue. It is stated that the seal of the bag was broken.
