THE BURNING MINE.
By Telegraph. — Press Association.—Copyright. Sydney, July 30. There is little change in the condition of the burning mine at Broken Hill, and a largo amount of smoke is still issuing from the centre where drills were being bored to enable the water to be' poured into the supposed seat of the fire, but in other parts the volume, has greatly decreased. Upon the advice of DrKobertson, mining expert, the carbonic acid gas prepared will be allowed to escape, and will not be brought into use unless the fire shows signs of spreading to the open stopes. • It is believed the gas would find its way into the par.s of tho. mine untouched by fire, and do much damage. It is thought the worst is over, and that the fire will not spread.
