From Our Com Correspondent, Stratford, February 1.

At the Stratford Police CourtonThursday, before Messrs W. A. Ellis and S. H. James, Justices, Donald Stewart pleaded guilty to a charge of being illegally on the premises (the goods shed) of the railway ment. His defence was that, suffering acutely from asthma, he had been walking the streets all night, and at 4.30 a.m., feeling tired, he entered the goods shed for a rest. A key belonging to the stables where he was employed fitted the padlock of the goods shed. The Bench sentenced him ,to six months’ hard labour in New Plymouth gaol. A Martini-Henry Rifle Club has been formed in Stratford, with a good list of members.
