CRICKET.
The Railway, C.C. easily defeated, the Vivians. The former club scored 143 runs for five wickets (Sampson 75, not out, and Cooney 45). Tho Vivians scored 40. Beale (Railway) took seven wickets for 20 runs, and Cording (Vivians) took two wickets for*lß runs. ’ ‘ Porirua defeated a weak eleven of the Paraparaumu Club at Porirua yesterday by 67 runs.. The scores were—Porirua, 40 and 87, Whitohouso, Payne and Windley being the principal contributors ; Paraparaumu, 37' (Ferris, 21) and 83 (J.D. Howell, 11). Whitohouso and Windley bowled well for the, winners, as did Ferris and J. Howell for the. losers. At the conclusion of the match the two teams had dinner, and a very pleasant evening was spent until the arrival of the train.
The majority of tho Paraparaumu’eleven arrived In town last night to fulfil their engagement with the Rivals at the College ground to-day. Tho following-will play for the country club:—Howell (3),’Smith (3), A. Mackay, Ferris, Foster, Kandiland-, and J. Travers. Liddle is-unablo to play for the .and Deighton will fill, tho vacancy.
