New Zealand Times Office, Saturday evening. A. Cl. Taine and Co. report of their : Saturday horse sale:—Wo had a very good entry in our yards, including a few medium draughts, ana also a special entry of six good hack and harness horses from Ilawera, sired by such good horses as Gipsy King, Foulshqt .ond Volunteer, which elicited good competition and warm praiso from all interested, as : it is seldom such a class of horses come into this market. Wo had a very successful sale all round. We sold of tho Hawora lot an up* 'standing 4-year-old golding for X 25, another for XlB 10s, and hacks at Xl3 10s and .£l2los, and small cob marc for -fill 10s, and passed a very good hack at -CIS, which is now under offer. We offered a few draughts, but sellers and buyers’ ideas of value wore at variance. We sola fairly good harness horses at -CIS 10s ' "And Jill; aged sorts, at -C7, X 7 10s and -C7lss; ' and a number of aged hacks from X 5 to £'> 10» ; crooks, from XI upwards. Townsend and Paul report of their .horso sale at their yards, Harris street, as follows:—Tho attendance of tho public very largo, and some few buyers amongst them, no doubt attracted by tho exceptional good entry of light horses whioh arrived from tho Wanganui district. Nearly all lots wore placed at fair prices, ranging from -C7 10s to X2O. There wore a few draughts, but not of .a class to find favour in tho eyes of those in want of that stamp. Several horses and traps wore also entered, and changed hands at tho reserves placed on them, A. fonr-yoar-old colt by Berlin changed hands at Xl4; a bay mare by Volunteer, XI2 10s ; pair ponies, Xl3, We quote tho following as probable prions for good sorts of their kinds : ; 'Draughts, .£lB to X 25 ; express, XlO to Xl2 ; , cab, XlO to Xl3 ; good useful all-round sorts, -81010 sto XIS; ponies, -87 10s to -610 10s j hacks, -61 to -£7 10s ; crooks, XI to -84. * Edwabds and Moßeath report of the 1 labour market:—Wo have boon busy during the week, especially with country orders. Some classes of servants are plentiful. Mon generally are numerous.
