RIFLE SHOOTING, Tho City Rifles scored another victory at the Upper Hutt on Saturday last, when their No. 1 team defeated tho senior team of the Upper Hutt Martini Rifle Club in a rifle match by 21 points, tho respective scores being—City Rifles, 409 ; Rifle Club, 4 18. The conditions were—Ten men a side ; ranges, 300 and COO yards; seven shots at each ; Martini rifles. The shooting on the whole was fairly good, the tricky wind notwithstanding. The scores of A. Guise (37), Madden, V. Whiteman and Wilkie (3(1 each) are all worthy of mention. The match was a most interesting one j for some time the Club held tiie lead, but once the Cities secured it they kept it to tho finish. Tho latter speak highly of the kindness of the Club men, who entertained tho visitors during tiieir stay in a most hospitable manner. A return match for two teams (twenty men on each side) will probably be arranged for Demonstration Day.
