The Senior Championship matches, Wellington y. Rivals and Midland y. Phoenix, will commence on the Basin Reserve at a cpiartef-paat 2 sharp this afternoon. The wicket 'promises to be very fast, and some’ high scoring' should result. Contributions will bo taken at the gates to defray the expenses of sending a team to Auckland at the end of November. The Junior Championship match, Hutt v. Wellington College, will be played today on the Hutt ground. The town team go out by tho 2.20 train from To Aro station, and return by the 7.9 train. The Phcenix-Karori heat for tho Thirdclass Championship will be continued this afternoon at the Karori ground. Duthie v. Tho authorities of tho Star Cricket Club contradict tho report that they intend withdrawing from the Junior Cup contest to compete foy the Third-class Championship.
