EASTER ENCAMPMENT.

Under date April 3, Lieutenant-Colonel Nswall writes the following at the conclusion of the Easter Encampment of 1893:—The Officer Commanding desires to place upon record bis high appreciation of the ready obedience and willing assistance rendered by all ranks as welt In the field as in the discharge of the more onerous dories of camp routine. His thanks are specially due to Majors Wood and Quick (of the Staff), to Major McOredie (Gommsudiug Artillery), to Captain Collins (as Camp Adjutant), and to Captain Anderson (as Camp Quartermaster), To officers commanding carps the Lieuten-ant-Colonel Commandiug desires to express bis thanks, not only for the regular way In which their several commands were marched in, but for thsir unremitting attention to the comfort of their men while nnder canvas. The excellent opportunities which the ground in the vicinity of the camp afforded oi practising outpost duties, will, it is hoped, encourage all ranks to improve their knowledge of and interest in this must important subject. Tbe discipline of the men, many of whom were recruits who bad never before been in camp, was, with two exceptions, excellent. It is matter of congratulation to tbs officers composing the board for the arrangement of supplies, that the food was both good and plentiful. This was msiuly due to the soldierlike system adopted by each company in providing its own cook and cooking place, instead of the general sorambla which at one time obtained in our camps The staff appointments notified in paragraph 4. of Camp Orders, dated 30th March, will lapse at 6 p m. this day.
