The Shaw, Savill and Albion Co’s cargo steamer Mnmari arrived from Napier at 1 pm yesterday. The U.S.S. Co’s ss Tarawera arrived from Auckland, via Gisborne and Napier, at 5.30 am on Saturday. She sailed in the evening for Melbourne, via Southern ports. The sa Wakatu arrived from Lyttelton and Kaikoura at an early hour on Saturday morning, and returned Inst night. The ss Charles Edward arrived from Nelson on Saturday morning, and returned in the evening. The ss Kahn, from Napier and Castle Point, came in on Saturday morning and returns tomorrow. The U.S.S. Go’s ss Penguin left Lyttelton a_t 10 pm on Saturday, and arrived hero at 12.45 pm yesterday. She leaves to-day on an excursion trip to Picton. The ss Kiwi from Napier and Castle Point, arrived here at 1 am on Saturday, and returns to-morrow.

Tho brigantine Linda Weber arrived from Raratongn on Saturday morning after a voyage of 16 days, during which she experienced fine weather and moderate winds, She brought a cargo of copra, coffee, cotton, oranges. &c. She will return to the islands shortly. Mr Goodwin, one of the owners, was a passenger by the brigantine, and we, understand that he intends to purchase another vessel. The U. 5.3. Co's ss Mawhera, from West Coast and Nelson, arrived here at 7 am yesterday. She returns to-morrow. The U.S.S. Co's ss Mahinapua left Onehunga on Friday at 4.15 pm, called at New Plymouth, and arrived here at 9 am yesterday. She returns early this morning, via Picton. Tho tf.S.S. Co’s ss Waihoraleft Sydney at 5 pm on the 3rd, and had fine weather and light winds until the morning of the 6th, when a heavy sonth-weat gale with tremendous seas was experienced. The weather moderated toward evening, and she arrived here at 12.43 pm yesterday. She leaves far Southern ports to-morrow. AUXILIARY SQUADRON. ARRIVAL OF HJVLS. TAURANGA. H.M.3. Tauranga. the first vessel of the Australasian Auxiliary Squadron to visit Wellington, arrived here from the South on Saturday morning. The Tauranga is a smart looking vessel, and is built of steel throughout. She is provided with a cellular double bottom through a considerable portion of her length. Her registered tonnage is 2573 tons, and her dimensions are :—Length between perpendiculars, 265 ft; breadth, extreme, 41ft; draught, extreme, 16ft 6in. The engines are of Tellsets twin-screw-vertical-triple-expansion class, surface condensing, and capable of working up to a nominal horse-power of 7500 under forced draught. Her maximum speed (measured speed), forced draught for a short period, under favourable conditions is 19 knots, and maximum speed, natural draught, 16£ knots an hour. She carries two electric dynamos, which are used for ordinary lighting purposes, search lights, which work up to 7000 candlepower, &c. Her armament consists of eight 47m _ quick-firing guns, eight threepounder quick firing guns, one seven pounder muzzle loading gun, four o*43in five barrel Nordenfeldts, and twelve Whitehead torpedoes. All her guns are of the latest design. She carries a crew of 212, Following is the list of her officers Captain, T. P. Nesham; first lieutenant, R. B, Abdy; lieutenant, H. F. Felly; navigating lieutenant, A. Wbitehouse ; staff surgeons, C. W. B. Hamilton and F. B. J. Mathias; chief engineer, J. J. Stuart; engineers, B. J. Murphy and J . A, Roye; assistant engineer, 13, W. H. Page; gunners, T. Birohby and 3. J. Portbury; assistant clerk, P. M. Seymour. She will return to Lyttelton 10-night, and will again visit Wellington with the H.M.S. Ringarooma, the other vessel of the Squadron now in New Zealand waters, in about three weeks’ time. The vessel was visited yesterday by a large number pf admiring spectators.
