WELLINGTON KENNEL CLUB.

THIRD ANNUAL SHOW. President—Mr T. K. Macdonald, M.H.R., Vice-Presidents—Dr Cahill, Messrs H. D. Crawford, W. Lingard, and H. B. Rawson. Committee Messrs Cook, Clater, Groll, Dyer, Morris, Matheson, McLelland, Osborn, Percy, Poole, Rogen, W. B. Taylor, Trigrs, and Tuckej'. Hon. Treasurer—Mr H. J. Rodgers. Hon. Secretary—Mr W. Day. The Wellington Kennel Club's third Annual Show was ooened at the Drill Hall on Friday afternoon. The Show from a fancier’s point of view is a success in every way, the entries consisting of as fine a collection of the canine species as has ever before been brought to gether in the Colony. The entries, which are 211 in number, represent breeders from all parts of New Zealand. The Committee have evidently worked hard and the success of their efforts may be seen in the number and class of the exhibits in the show. A great improvement is noticeable this year in the method of showing the exhibits, each dog being provided with a separate compartment, in which it is chained. These compartments are arranged along the two sides and at the top of the hall, the different classes being well defined. In the centre of the hall is a specially erected cage, wherein are to be seen the pick of the United Hunt hounds, whose fine condition reflects most creditably on the huntsman, Mr Dick Roake. It would be hard, even in the Old Country, to find a finer pack of hounds than these, and the United Hunt are to be congratulated u:on their possession. They formed the princlp d attraction of the Show. Mr H. N. Watson, of Gisborne, the judge, commenced hn duties about noon yesterday, and was kept busily engaged till Ute in the afternoon. Hia awards appear to have given general satisfaction—a feature not always met with at exhibitions of this kind. The best class in the Show is, in the opinion of the jndge, that of fox terrier bitches, in which the largest number of entries are to be found. Mr Watson considers that a better show of this class has not been seen in the Australasian colonies. Mr F. Rogen’s celebrated Peri Ella (N.Z. K.C.S.B, 14,915) was awarded first prize in the class referred to. The attendance during the morning was not large, but in the evening the public extended their patronage to the Snow in fairly large numbers the amount received at the doors for admission being a little over L2O. During the evening Jupp's (Kaiwarra) Band performed selections of music outside the building. The Secretary, Mr W. H. Day, carried out his arduous duties most satisfactorily, while Messrs H. J. Rodgers, Triggs, G. Martin, S. Dyer. Clater, Osborne, Morris, Cook, Rogen, W. B. Taylor, and Tuckey—members of the committee—worked hard In the interests of both the Club and exhibitors.
