The above list of entries shows an increase of no fewer than 50 on the number received for the same meeting last year, the respective totals being 129 and 79. The entries for each event this year and last year show as follow : Trial Steeplechase, 25 as against 14; Hurdle Handicap, 33 against 25; Wellington Steeplechase, 32 against 1G; Ladies’ Trophy, 19 against 3; High Weight Handicap, 20 against 21. It is only fair to point out that the Ladies’ Trophy this year is a handicap, whereas last year it was a weight-for-ago event. The Racing Club is to be congratulated on the splendid nominations, which it will be eeea include the oream of the cross-country horses from all parts of the Colony. If the acceptances ate in anything like the ordinary pro : portion, the meeting should bo the most successful steeplechase reunion ever held at the Hutt. By Elkctuio Telegraph.—Copyright. V.R.O. Grand National Meeting, to be held on the 11th and 18th July Grand National Hdbdle Race, a handicap sweepstakes of 20 sovs each, 5 ft, with 1500 added; second horse to receive 300 sovs, and the third 150 sovs out of the stake. Winner of any handicap hurdle race or steeplechase after declaration of weights, to carry lOlbs extra. About three miles.
Jupiter was not handicapped. Gband National Steeplechase, a handicap sweepstakes of 20 sovs each, 5 ft, with 1500 added. Second horse to receive 300 sovs, and the third 150 sovs out of the stake. Winner of any handicap hurdle race or steeplechase after declaration of weights to carry 101 b extra. About three miles, over such course and jumps as the Stewards shall direct.
